Guidelines for Contributions
These Guidelines for Contributors are intended for those who consider submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Transformative Praxis (JrTP) published by Kathmandu University School of Education. This is a refereed journal and brings original manuscripts from academics and professionals from around the world. JrTP is published four times (March, June, September, and December) in each volume per year.
When submitting your manuscript, please consider that the audience of this Journal ranges from senior academics to professionals, researchers, teachers as well as university students. All contributions are thoroughly reviewed by the editorial board and blind-reviewed by the experts in the field. The Editorial Board seeks manuscripts that contribute to understanding the nexus of theory and practice in the field of practitioner research.
When preparing your manuscript, please consider the following:
- The manuscripts should be typed and submitted in Microsoft Word format.
- The font of the manuscripts should be Times New Roman, with font size 12. The text should be aligned left and page size A4 with orientation portrait.
- Margins of the manuscript should be set at 1 inch on all sides.
- Line spacing should be kept at double except for the References, Tables, and Figures, which should be kept at single.
- Limit yourself to four levels of headings including the title of the manuscript.
- Use no more than four levels of displayed headings as shown in the following table.
Centered, Bold, Uppercase and Lowercase Heading
Flush Left, Bold, Uppercase and Lowercase Heading
Indented, bold, lowercase paragraph heading ending with a period.
Indented, bold, italicized, lowercase paragraph heading ending with a period.
- For lists, please use numbers or standard bullet points. However, try avoiding long lists of bulleted and numbered points.
- For emphasis, please use italics, not bold. Italics should also be used for non-English words, titles of books, films, plays, etc.
- Indent every paragraph, except in the (first paragraph of) abstract.
- For short quoted language (not citation), use single quote. For example, the noun ‘head’ has several meanings.
The title page should have the title of the paper (using level one heading style), author and co-author’s names and affiliations (i.e. institution, town/city and country). One author should be assigned as the corresponding author whose email address and full-postal address should also be provided on the title page.
Abstract and Keywords
Please provide a brief abstract of 250-300 words maximum. Author(s) is suggested not to use undefined abbreviations. Please include four to five keywords following the abstract.
All headings as suggested in the format section should be clearly distinguishable.
Contribution to the literature/Paper originality
Summarize the procedures your paper contributes to the existing literature. You can also emphasize the originality and the significance of your work in terms of research questions, employed methods, and/or findings and results/discussions. However, do not give any implications in this section.
Double quotation marks should be used for less than 40 words and must be incorporated into the text. Quotations longer than 40 words should be in a freestanding block of text without quotation marks, as per APA style.
Tables and Figures
Tables should be prepared in Microsoft Word and single-spaced. The font of the table should be Times New Roman. Table must have a title and be numbered. Figures, photographs, and diagrams (all referred to as ‘figure’) should have a caption and be numbered. Figures should not be hand-drawn, but digitized and ready for print.
In-Text Citations and References
The submitted manuscripts should follow the American Psychological Association, sixth edition for in-text citations and reference. Please visit the website http://www.apastyle.org/ for further information on the APA format.
Supplementary materials should be collected in an Appendix and placed before the Notes and References.
Authors must place a separate section in the manuscript before reference for the acknowledgments of people, grants, and funds, etc.
References should follow the American Psychological Association (APA) style (latest edition) and the DOI number, if it exists, must be included. All references must be in alphabetical order.
Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author from the journal. One corrected proof, together with the original edited manuscript, should be returned to the publisher within three days of receipt (PDF version).
The author must take written permission from the author(s) for unpublished or copyright materials.
This journal does not charge any fees for author(s) such as submission fees, publication fees or page charges. JrTP also does not provide the authors, reviewers and editorial board members with any remuneration for their contribution. The contribution to JrTP is totally scholarly work.
Open Access Policy
JrTP adheres to the basic norms of open access policy and thus provides immediate open and free access to its content to support a greater global exchange of knowledge. Therefore, users can read, download, distribute, and print the full texts of the articles in this journal for educational purposes without taking prior permission from the publisher or the author(s).
The Journal of Transformative Praxis is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 4.0 International License. It means, once the article is published in the Journal, readers are free to, adapt and share (under the same license as the original) the published materials for non-commercial purposes, provided that the Journal and the authors are duly accredited and cited
Authors retain the copyright; however, they grant Kathmandu University School of Education the exclusive right to publish their article under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 4.0 International License. Also, a separate copyright form will be sent to the author(s) whose paper is accepted for publication.
The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated aims and scope of this journal and will not be made available for other purpose.
