Innovations in teaching and learning through contextualized approaches to increase the quality, relevance and sustainability of education in Nepal.
Ms. Parbati Dhungana Poudel is a PhD student in Education Program in Kathmandu University, School of Education. She has been involving in education since 1993 AD and has experience of teaching from Pre-primary to Bachelor’s level and developing curriculum, textbooks and reference materials.
She has begun teaching from 1993 in Pre-primary level by joining in the same school i.e. Saraswoti Secondary School, Besigaon from where she has completed her Primary education. Then she worked as a Primary teacher in Manakamana High School, and in V.S.Niketan School; as a Middle School teacher in Suva Tara School; as a High School teacher in Nava Ratna School; as an English teacher in Newton International College and K& K College; as an Academic coordinator in Chelsea Int’l Academy and Pushpa Bal Academy till June 2017.
She has completed her Master’s in English from Tribuvan University and M Phil in English from Pokhara University. More than that she has completed two online courses: “Creative Writing: The Craft of Plot”, (4 weeks course), Assistant Professor Brando Skyhorse, Wesleyan University, 02/28/2017 and “What future for education?”, (6 weeks course), Dr. Clare Brooks, University of London, 01/29/2017.
She has received three awards: Teaching Excellence Achievement Award, US-2016; 3rd V-STAR Fellowship, Thailand-2014; The Best Coordinator Award, Chelsea Int’l Academy-2013.
She is one of the co-authors of English text book of Grade 9 and 10 published by Curriculum Development Centre; Teacher’s Guide of Grade 7 and 9 published by Curriculum Development Centre; Moral and Value Education of Grade 6, 7 and 8 published by Megha Publication.
She has attended two international workshops, one national conference and more than three dozens of workshops and trainings related to teaching, management, leadership, gender equality and equity, peace, curriculum development, textbook writings and other issues.
She, a homemaker and nature lover, is a happily married with a son of 18 years who always enjoys in the teaching and learning activities.
