Mr. Govinda Prasad Devkota

Govinda Prasad Devkota was born in Bhimsen Rural Municipality; ward no 1 Masel, Gorkha. From grade one through SLC; he attended the Dullav Secondary School, Ghyampesal Gorkha.

He began his higher education at Tribhuvan University (TU). He received M. Phil. specializing in development studies from TU in 2017. He has worked as lecturer at Health and Physical Education Department, Mahendra Ratna Campus, Tribhuvan University of Nepal.

Mr. Devkota experienced with qualitative and quantitative methodologies, evaluation, planning and development. He attended multidisciplinary workshop, discussion management, focus group, and interview skills. Moreover, he has managerial, organizational, teaching and facilitation experience. He was well exposed to research, teaching, conferences and seminars at the national level. He was outstanding in communicating vision and implementing policy at strategic level. He could highly articulate in speaking and writing, confident and persuasive in public speaking, able to motivate and communicate ideas and inspire confidence in others.

He has made outstanding research achievement from different organization in the field of public health and health education. He was a Research Associate and studied on knowledge attitude and practice concerning Reproductive Health, STIs and HIV/AIDS among the Adolescences/Youth of four districts: Rautahat, Rasuwa, Gulmi and Surkhet sponsored by Swiss Development Corporation in collaboration with Red Cross Society, Central Office Kathmandu, Nepal. As a research associate he studied on Health Need Assessment and School Health Programme in Nepal, sponsored by Nepal Health Research Council, Kathmandu, Nepal,Prevalence on Sexually Transmitted Diseases among the Transport workers in the Western Terai Highways of Nepal, sponsored by Save the Children US and conducted by Development Resource Centre, Kathmandu Nepal, Risk Assessment on STIs and HIV Transmission Among Migrate labours in Rukum District, Sponsored by Nepal Health Research Council with collaboration of WHO, Need Assessment of SRHE Among Adolescents& Youths in Rupendehi, Jhapa, Chitwan, Kaski and Ramechap Districts sponsored by Nepal Family Planning Association with collaboration of DRC, Review of Primary School Construction Project under Japan Grant Aid (JGA) in the Kingdom of Nepal sponsored by JICA with collaboration of Development Resource Centre (DRC), Study on Factors Enabling Skilled Birth Attendance in Nepal sponsored by SC/US with collaboration of Development Resource Centre (DRC) Kathmandu, ‘Technical support to NHEICC to facilitate district BCC planning in selected districts of Nepal’ NHSSP/Options, Effectiveness of IEC/BCC activities supported by UNFPA to National Health Education & Communication Centre’, UNFPA/NHEICC (2006), A study on Health Problems and Health Care Practices among Urban Poor in Kathmandu, Nepal sponsored and conducted by CARE Nepal.

Moreover, he did evaluation study Sustainability of ODF Program in GSF Program Districts, sponsored by UN Habitat with collaboration of Bikas Shrot Kendra (BKS) Pvt. Ltd. Kathmandu in 2016, Water Supply Scheme (WSS)/ Water Source Mapping Sindhupalchok and Dolakha District. Collaboration with USAID, SEBAC NEPAL and Bikas Shrot Kendra (BKS ) Pvt. Ltd. Kathmandu, Baseline Study on FP/FACT Project in Nuwakot, Rupendehi, Pyuthan, Siraha, Bajura Districts collaboration with Bikash Shrot Kendra Pvt. Ltd. and funded by Institute of Reproductive Health, George Town University,USA in November,2016. In January to March, 2017 he worked as a co- leader on HPV Vaccine Coverage Survey in Kaski and Chitwon Districts Collaboration with Bikash Shrot Kendra Pvt. Ltd. Funded by Child Health Division, DOH, Teku. Kathmandu.Similarly, In March to June, 2017, he did a Baseline and Need assessment on Access to Quality Education for adolescent Girls and Young Women in Nepal. Conducted by Bikash Shrot Kendra. Pvt. Ltd. collaboration with UNESCO, UN- WOMEN and CHD. Recently, (April to September, 2017), he did endline study on Hygiene Promotion Through Routine Immunization Programme In Nepal collaboration with MoH-CHD/WaterAid/BSK .

Majority of Govinda’s work has been published in many well known national journals. He is also involving in curriculum development, developing textbooks and reference books related to health education.

Currently, Mr Devkota is a PhD fellow under NORHED fellowship at Graduate School of Education, Tribhuvan University, following Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach; he is to construct Sustainable Water Hygiene and Ecological Sanitation Innovation at School Level Education in Nepal.
